Had atlatlist Bob Berg to visit here a while back which inspired me to make my first altalt and darts.
The atlatl bends in an even arc, 'tillered' by dishing the back. Woods are black walnut, maple, prune, hock, dart rest and bannerstone are deer antler. Darts are pine dowel rods.
Will be tested next weekend (if the weather is nice).
Thanks for looking.

It looks good, but what about the growthrings? They look very brittle to me. Am I right?
Regards Uwe
-
Thanks Uwe.
Actually not brittle at all; made 5 successful bows from the same board, and the atlatl seems to hold up, too.
-
what did you use to color the shafts. I really like that black and red contrast. Nice craftsmanship all around!
-
I used black waterbased dye; brings out the wood pattern nicely!
-
Beautiful work....every time I see one of these I REALLY get the urge to give one a go but I need to slow down and get a few bows under my belt before I start jumping on every project that catches my eye ;D
Thanks for sharing!
