Hello everyone, here is my latest bow. It is Black Locust, 70 inches long and draws an even 50 at 26 inches. It is 1 1/2 inches wide at the fades to mid limb and then tapers to 3/8 inch tips. I stained it with cherry stain and the handle is wrapped with linen that I stained with walnut stain. This is the longest bow I've made and I really like the way it shoots.

-
Wow-that's exceptional.
-
Nice tiller. Never had any luck with black locust before, Maybe I shoulda tried one on the longer side too.
-
Looks Great Alan....nice and simple...yet a real looker..... ;)
-
Another nice bow, Alan.
Couldn't help notice the thin growth rings in the picture. I've had great results out of thinner ringed locust lately.
-
It's a nice bow!
-
Nice, clean, simple... Lovely bow, man. Love the finish and how it shows the grain and yeah, I was thinking the grain seemed quite thin too.
-
Love the simplicity. Your nocks really show how little wood is needed to hold the string. Great job.
-
Very nice work! Those are small nocks. Jawge
-
Love it. Nice job Alan. I need to get out and make one out of the locust I got from you.
-
Nice bow. Nice tiller. really like the way the grain stands out.
-
Thanks everyone! The rings are about 1/8 inch or so on this one. I have been having bad luck with tip overlays so I decided to see how small I could go on these tips without them. I got these as small as I would with overlays and have shot this bow a lot already and had no problems yet.

Congratulations, nice bow.

love the bow alan. Currently in the process of making a black locust bow myself. Was looking to build about the same length and around 50 lbs. When spliting my stave from the log it got a little thin in depth. I was wandering if you could post how thick your limbs are to see if I have enough to make the weight at that lenght or if I will have to shorten and widen the bow to get to 50 lbs before I get to far into shapeing and scraping.
-
Thanks guys. Hopefull, the limbs are 1/2 inch thick at the fades and 3/8 inch by mid limb.
