Title: Walnut makeover
Post by: hammertime on September 24, 2010, 08:53:57 pm
Hi all I had a old black walnut selfbow that I didn not shoot much anymore.I cut it in half recurved the tips put cherry underlays on and built a new black walnut-heartwood riser. The limbs had taken some set but now is a faster shooter with a low stack design and early string tension the limbs are attached w/1/4"bolts,I saw Marc St Louis do this in an earlier issue of PA.Just over 50#@26" of pull.64"long.It was a good way to give a old bow new life.Hammertime

That's incredible! I'm in love with this bow. Is she available, or are you keeping her for yourself?  :P

Seriously, though. I never would have thought to turn rags to riches in that way. Excellent handy work.
