Hi folks!
Last year I got a little, twisted Osage stave with some cracks as a present.
I took deer raw hide, steemed little recurves in the stave and built up a handle exactly fitting in my hand with flax wood glue and leather.
The little propeller shoots my 460grain arrows quite fast. It can smoothly be drawn to 28”.
Length: 55”
Drawweight: 30#
Drawlength: 28”

This bow is amazing. What kind of rawhide is that? Does it shoot fast?

I thought so, too, when first saw it on the German archery side, but he said over there it's something like 6"; must be the perspective on that one picture.

Now that is one nice little bow. Great to see what can be done with twisty wood.
-
great bow and great pics. you did good with that piece of wood. realy like the grip.
-
I agree with BearG -- you should frame that last pic and hang it on your wall. Great art!
-
wow! great job! must have taken a lot of work to get it bending right!
-
Yep! That's mighty, pretty.
-
Steilpassfänger, what really impresses with your bows, other than the great craftmanship, is you blend of textures and colors. I'm going to try to work a little more with textures on my next project. Thanks for the inspiration.
-
Good looking bow. Always liked that type of handle. Killer rings in that osage, you can tell it's the "nitro".
-
Glad you like my new little bow.
@bowmo
The rings are about 2mm.
@Cacatch
I used deer rawhide, it is really strong. And it shoots quite fast, had only tried it with 460grain arrows, have to try it with 300 grain arrows, and ask my chrono when the weather is better.
-
What a beauty! great idea on that full draw pic!
-
not sure how i missed it, but I love that bow
