Well, not really primitive skills, but sure usefull stuff: some hand sewn bow socks I made from Swiss, German and Ex-GDR Army blankets. All applications are quality leather.

Those are very nice! I do a similar thing, except I use a heavy dark green canvas, with a suede bottom. Actually, my wife sews them... I can't sew worth a sour shite!! ;D

Part of the sewing was done on a machine (Thanks mom), but most of it by hand.
I've used canvas before, too, but I really like the ones from wool plankets now.

Very nice. I use 6 foot long pieces of pipe insulation from a plumbing supplies shop, and tape up one end with gaffer tape. Not very primitive, but very cheap and effective protection. ;)

Well yes, insulation pipe does the job, especially when you carry several bows in the trunk of your car; I've seen that in use.
