Well for my second bow I decided to try an oak board pyramid. It is 66" 48#@28. I used osage for the tip overlays. The bow is very smooth and shoots where I look. What more could a guy ask for ;D

Nice Job, $12 well spent ;D

Nice Bow.

How many boards did you have to go through before you got that nice straight grain pattern?
God bless

Wow, that looks a lot like the 8 dollar red oak board bow I just finished last week! ;D Haven't posted that one yet, though.
Yours looks real good.

i aint never found grain on any board at a box store that looked that nice and wasnt all warped to hell and back

Your bow turned out great! Looks like you got that tillering thing down pat. :) I will always have a soft spot for a red oak board bow because that was my first few bows when i first started. Still make one on occasion because for the money and performance you just can't beat them. Got your bow bookmarked for September BOM contest too. :)

Only about 5 Ron. I got lucky. I should go back and see if there are any more. There is a place about an hour from me that has a huge selection of hard woods and exotics. I need to pay them a visit and see what is in their wood pile ;)

Real nice Steve simple, effective and nice tiiler-Hammertime

Now that is one sharp looking Home Depot bow!

$12 goes an awful long way these days, doesn't it? from the looks of the tiller, i'd say it shoots a damn site better than most would expect from $12 too!
great job!

Attaboy! I love a nicely done pyramid bow. You did great on the tiller, and the handle profile is simple and sleek. :)
-
Time and money well spent. Tiller looks good and details too.

Thanks for the compliments gentleman. I put about 50 arrows or so through it last night and I really enjoy the way it shoots.

Real nice bow Steve!
Hey quick question, what are the dimensions? How wide are the limbs at the widest points? I just found a really straight grained piece of Maple and one of Red Oak that were 2.5" by 6' long. I have the maple cut out and waiting til I finish that to start on the Red Oak. Great bow and keep up the great work!

Very nice job, you did get it figured out fast, indeed. That's a great weight that you came in at, bows are a pleasure to shoot around that weight. Great job and looking forward to seeing more!

That is one nice bow for 12 bucks.

Hey Barry, 66" overall,4.5"grip, 2" fades, 2" tapering to 1/2 initially then about 1/4 after finishing the tip overlays. Grip is 1'' wide.
A big thanks to Eric Krewson for posting his tillering gizmo. It works like a champ and gave me a lot more confidence in my tillering ability.

One thing that bothers me is your workbench looks a little too organized :P.! I hope my wife doesn't see this and start comparing work spaces!!!

Nice job on the Bow Steve. I have tried and tried to get over 40lbs with a Lowes supply of redoaks. Nope.lol
I switched to lumberyard heat treated boards. Well. they seem to be working a bit better for myself. lol. Awesome job again, love the design as well.
