Title: ash flatbow
Post by: mox1968 on September 03, 2010, 02:29:06 pm
here is an ash flatbow I just finished, its 63" NTN and pulls 50#@26" (I tillered it to 28" but my draw is 26" and my luggage scale only goes up to 50).the limbs are 1 1/2" wide at fades and taper down to a 1/2" at the nocks.the nock overlay is brazilian rosewood.
thanks for looking.(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/flatbow4002.jpg)(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/flatbow4001.jpg)(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/flatbow4004.jpg)

Sorry, but I always have to ask this question - how big was the log you got this out of? Did you de-crown or did the stave already have a flat back?

Thanks and killer bow!

cp : the bow was started out from a split log about 4-6" in diameter.I got 2 good sized splits and 2 not very good ones which went in the fire.the sraight section of the log wasnt much longer than the bow finished out at.
