Title: Mollegabet
Post by: gothmog on August 30, 2010, 09:13:43 pm
I just recieved a new bow as a gift from a good friend here on PA, who shall remain nameless due to his humility.  If you wish to come forward, please do so.  It's a mollegabet, quarter sawn hard maple with a hickory back.  59" NTN, pulls about 70# at my draw of 28".  This bow is incredible.  If any of you have not tried the molle design, you really should.  This thing pulls very smooth, is virtually silent, and flings arrows with authority.  They hit like a freight train.  I hate to admit it, but I'm a recent convert from the compound world, little over a year ago.  I think this bow would fair well against any wheelie.  I think with sufficient arrow weight I could get a complete pass through on any unsuspecting Volkswagon.  Anyway, great bow from a master bowyer.  Thanks, I cannot wait for hunting season.  Enjoy the pics, and ignore the big ugly ape holding it!

Yeah, Rich likes the Moll's... he was the first person I thought of too. Maybe it's not him, but that's my guess at this point.

Outstanding work on this bow.  It looks so MEAN!! Great lines, super tiller.  At 70 lbs. I know it is a screamer.

To borrow a phrase from my youngest, "that bow is tight" ;D I've admired that design since the first time I saw one. I have to try building one someday.

Thanks for the comments boys.  Yep, it was created by Rich.  I'll tell ya, I'm really sold on this design.  I haven't shot primitive for long, and not as many designs as most of ya, but Molle's flat ROCK.  I'm gonna try my hand at a few after I finish up the bow I've just started.  Come to think of it, I have a new idea about even this one.....

Anybody have info on the design, dimensions etc?  How is it different from a Holmie, etc?  Can it be made as a self bow?

Look at the link posted above, Rich posted pics in it with dimensions.  And Yes, I know for a fact it can be made as a self bow, and a powerfil and beautiful one at that.  Just like any other design, chase a ring or quarter sawn with NO runoff.
