OK, here is my new favorite wood to work. My neighbor had a plum tree taken down this winter and I got this little branch from him. They had it all cut up before I could get there or I would have had some nice billets. I started this for my son a few months ago just now getting it done. I decrowned the stave and then used it as the belly, lots of knots so I felt safer using the split side as the back. It is backed with silk and is able to draw 20# @ 22". I have NO doubt this thing could have been made to be a hunting wight bow because it was for a long time. Took me forever to get it down to weight and it is still a bit too heavy for him. he gets it to draw about 10" and it is close to 10# there. So Stats are 40"ntn 20# @ 22" 1 1/2" wide 5/16" pin nocks.
And I still have the other half of this branch to play with. May have a short sinewed bow coming soon!
