I've always tapered my limbs from fades to knocks but I notice a lot of bow builders are starting their tapers much higher up(1 foot below knocks). I'm new at this stuff and I was wondering what the advantages are of using a higher taper limb. I'm laying out a 64" HHB stave now and not sure which way to go. Thanks to all.

If you're refering to width, it's just a matter of the wood density and the tilelr profile. Lighter density woods can get a heavier draw weight by leaving them wide for most of the limb like that, and you get a more elliptical tiller. However, there's no real big difference besides that, as long as you keep the outer limbs as light as you can for the given specs.
