Title: Is this a good arrow bush
Post by: tetaxidermy on July 13, 2010, 07:30:50 pm
Is this a good bush to make arrows from and if so what is it? I live in central Illinois if that helps.(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz103/wdmnerc/100_0470.jpg)(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz103/wdmnerc/100_0469.jpg)(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz103/wdmnerc/100_0468.jpg)

It kinda looks like a quince. Does it have sharp points at the limb tips?

We just moved here it is in the front yard and I want to trim it but if I can get arrows out of it that would be great. Oh yeah no fruit on it.

If it has straight shoots, give it a try. You never know.

I'm with Pat, looks like a Japanese quince. Don't see any arrows on it at the moment, but if you cut it back hard, it might throw out some straight shoots. Those quince bushes tend to grow pretty gnarly, though.
