I have been working on this on and off for a few months, spring is very busy around the Club and shop so sometime it takes me forever. This was a piece of scrap off of a stave Jesse traded for at the Classic year before last.He got what he wanted and offered me the rest.Nice and clean except for one big knot about mid limb,it made it a challenge for me to tiller, also never working with yew
before made for an interesting project. Didn't get it bending just like I wanted but finely call it good enough.I have shot it several hundred time and it is sweet, pretty fast and light in the hand.It is holding up straight after shooting and coming back to just over and inch of reflex after resting.
66 n-n 53@26.Yew with rawhide backing, also river snake skins. Buffalo tips. Hope you like it,I sure do. :)

Thanks guys,no not off the hand but almost, small leather shelf in the grip. Didn't tiller out as well as I would have liked but done all I could with the big knot and it seems to be holding up well and shoots nice.Plan on doing some hunting with it this fall. :)

Cool yew bow Pappy. I become fond of yew even though I've only made a few yew bows. Not as tough as osage but so far tough enough for one of my bows! ;D

Very nice Pappy! :)

Doncha just love Yew... so pretty and tough with it. I'll bet you could pull that back to your ear and it wouldn't complain.
Nice to have the skin and the sap & the heart wood all showing, very pretty.

Thanks guys,Ya sailordad I have had so much going on just couldn't get it finished, just done a little at a time between a few other bows started and things going on at the club. blacktail,ya it was much softer than I am use to,had to slow down and be real careful scraping.I do like the way it feels,it is so springy.I have another short piece with no knots, can't wait to get started on it.Thanks again. :) :)

Looks really nice. Is there an advantage to having all of your bend so early in the limb?
-
This one had a big knot a little passed mid lime so that's about all I could do,but I do tend to leave my outer limbs stiffer than most, slim and stiff, just a personal preference. :) My draw is fairly short so I can get away with it more than some. If it is for me I never tiller over 26 anyway. No need . :)
