Now that sure has some character...
Is that a peep sight? Or do you screw a stabiliser rod in there >:D.
Do you have special S shaped arrows to shoot from it? ;D
Love it!

Now THAT'S why I like this hobby.  You made a bow out of something nobody would ever think could be a bow.  One of a kind, bud.

That bow is sow full of character it's almost funny.  Not so funny on the business end of it though, I'm sure!
That is a riot, great job!

The story of the bow :

A few weeks ago I "cleaned" my shop , you know the hack over the years you fill every corner with lots of stuff which you think " thats still good , will need it for.." so I through almost everything out of the shop , so as the stave's.
The stave's were sorted out, good ones to the left and the so so stave's to the right, the really good ones stayed in the shop.
Guess what ? this B L stave was one of the really good ones.- no knots  , straight and nice thick rings .

It was a half splited trunk , ad one end was an big old  over grown branch and I decided to  cut that piece off , removed the bark and it still looked good.
But than , as I removed the sapwood  more and more of that multicolored crooked wood was comming out to see , and as I followed the fibers I thought to my self : " What a little cheater stave have I got here  >:D
That thing will be a bow doesn't matter how it will look like ,  but it will become a bow."

One of the biggest problems was to "find" the rings,
look , the left side of the handle , no problem to see the rings:

but on the other side they do look  :o :

Impressive!
I sometimes see bows in almost any tree, branch or board, but I'd never dream about making a bow out of this thing.
You have my sincerest admiration.

Great looking whatchamacallit bow  ;D I've almost given up on what to call those too. Did you leave any sapwood on it, I've heard different schools of thought on leaving it on and taking it off. One of the guys I know says you have to take it off, but I have seen at least one with the sapwood on. I was going to guess BL I have about 5 staves of that stuff in my garage and it all has that strange color once you get into the wood. The first time I saw it I thought it had something wrong with it :)

@all : Thank you very much :)

Yes I did , in the handle area are 3 extra sapwood rings  for a bit more height.
And the rest ?? well its probably the changing from sapwood to heartwood .

Everyone has his own opinion on that sapwood story by BL , I would  say , you can leave one or two rings on off sapwood , if the colore is more yellow .
I did that 3 times without having any trouble.

Acker,

Don't listen to those other guys, they are just trying to spare your sensitive feelings.  Your bow is an unmitigated piece of crap and you should be ashamed of yourself for posting it.

I   on the other hand am your only true friend and to prove it, I am willing to send you the cash money necessary for you to ship the bow to my home address.  I will see to it that the bow is properly disposed of and no one will have to ever look at it again!

Now, do me the favor of sending me a private message with your address so I can send you the necessary postage.

Yours truly, your only real friend on this website,
John

 >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

p.s. seriously, where do I send the postage money?
