Title: Nocks for a pyramid bow, 60" long and around 50# at 26-hickory
Post by: bd2cool on May 25, 2010, 12:18:02 am
Hi all.

I need to ask how wide of nocks  for a pyramid  bow, 60" long and around 50# at 26-hickory?
With my long bows I make them at 3/8 to 1/2 wide but I read while some people are using 3/4 to 1 inch.
I don't want to ruin this by making the nocks  too narrow.

Can I use narrow nocks  with a pyramid  bow or should I go wider?

Thanks

I generally make the tips of my bows 3/8" wide at the nocks. The less mass you have in the limb tips the quicker the limbs will recover.

I usually start at about 3/8 but when I am finished I thin them quite a bit more than that ,probably more like a fat 1/4.  ;) :)
