looks like left limb needs to bend a bit more mid limb. then its perfect
-
You sure make your Grandpa work hard when YOU make a bow. ;D ;D piper

What aero86 said.... plus the mid section is still too stiff, I think. Tom

Are you still on a long string? If so, at that draw your reading will be false. Put it on a short string at about 4" brace height then pull it.
-
From the picture, it looks like your grandfather's hands are about 6 inch appart pulling down the string. The striing needs to be pulled from one center point like you would do while shooting the bow. I believe most folks use like hook in the center of the string to get the tiller close then use a mirror and/or a camera to tweak the tiller with them actually drawing the bow back as they would do when shooting the bow.

yeah i got it up to brace hight. im gunna scrape at it more tomorrow.
-
What Pat said, looks a little stiff right out of the fads, especially the left and the outer 1/3 of the limbs.
See what it looks like on the short string, things sometimes change, also like others have said, pull from the center. Looking good so far.

Rule # 1 is NEVER pull a bow further than it takes to expose a problem. Back off on yanking that thing back so far. LOL. 10-14 in should do it. First place to work is at the fades. Get a pencil and mark a big dark line where you want the bending to start and cautiously work that area. I like the bend to start at the end of the fades. Take 10 scrapes and check the tiller. You can leave the bow strung for working the fades. On the right limb looks like you have a hinge mid limb. Get more near handle wood moving and then we can talk about the hinge. Jawge
