I am currently working on a laminate Bow of 4 Maple lams about 1/8/inch thick.
The Bow has been glued into reflex deflex.
I was wondering if using 4 thin lams is going to make the bow shoot better or worse than using 3 thicker lams. ???. Phillip

It shouldn't make any difference how many lams you use, as long as each lam is thin enough to conform to the shape of the former without damage.
The biggest difference is one extra glue line to screw up >:D.

Wouldn't thinner lams bend into the form easier and therefore be less stressed when glued together?? This would enable you to make a more extreme r/d design with improved performance???

There are just to many variables to give a simple answer to this question.

went into the form rather easy and Ive already got the limbs cut to taper, glued up the lams by themselves then after dry I put the handle on, had to sand to fit.
Now I'm putting on tip overlays.
not sure if I should angle the tip because of the lam but I'm gonna give it a try.
I shaped most of the overlays before placing it on the bow.
For the backing I put 2 layers of linen with tb3.
Never did a lam like this please be patient with me.

the fades look to sharp to me, if you did'nt run a power lam past the handle when it gets to bending I think you willl pop the handle imo

Thanks Bubby, I am still working on cutting the handle so it less sharp also the Lams are tapered towards the tips hopefully the limbs Bend more mid limb. The center of the Bow is the same thickness for about 12" so I think I won't have any problems with the Center bend.
The Bow is going to be 66 NTN 1/5/8 at the handle fade tapering to 3/8 at the Tip.

I agree with Bubby those fades look way to severe!!! they need to blend with the limb at a less acute angle , looks like a power lam is a god idea maybe???

well I definitely agree with the both of ya. Puter on the tree and The limbs twisted in opposite directions and Handle cracked Horizontal. The wood was free so No stress, on to the next Bow. Also did some reading on Powerlambs,Thanks for your time and advice.
