Hey there everyone at P.A.,
This is LuLyn, Keenan's wife. I wasn't sure where to post, so I am hoping this is the right spot. I haven't posted too much on my own. Well, the reason I am on, is that Keenan and I are most likely not going to be coming to the Tennessee classic as planned. We were really planning and looking forward to the trip, but as life goes sometimes, we have had some changes. First of all, Keenan's back is pretty bad and he really needs to have his surgery to fuse his spine. I actually haven't been sure he really could make the trip, with all the pain he has been in of late. Last night, he slipped getting out of the shower and fell really hard. I took him to the ER, because his back pain and leg spasms became severe after the fall. After alot of pain medicine(enough to snow an elephant), he finally got some relief. He checked out okay, no serious damage caused from the fall. But it has raised the concern that the trip could do more damage to his back. We saw his surgeon today, and the doctor agree's the trip wouldn't be good for him. My feeling, after alot of prayer and thought is that he needs this surgery as soon as possible. Keenan is really stubborn, ( I know that probably comes as a surprise, Ha! Ha!) and feels he needs to go on the trip because he doesn't want to let everyone down. I told him he could still mail his gifts off to everyone, and we can plan for next year. Plus, he will be feeling alot better after his surgery for next year. I believe the Lord knows what's best and it seems he is pointing us towards this surgery as soon as possible.
Also, my dad is having some very serious health issue's right now and is staying with us. I know that it would not be a good time to leave my dad, as he has some very important upcoming procedure's and we are his only family.
So, to make a long story short, I wanted to let everyone know the news, and I am hoping that Keenan's good friends here at PA will send him some encouragement on this most difficult change of plans. Blessings to everyone and thanks for your support. I look forward to next year! :) LuLyn

Lulyn, You guys do what you have to do. We all understand. I can sympathies, somewhat, with what Keenan is going through. I also wondered if he would be able to make the trip but was hoping he would be well enough. Getting him well is the most important thing right now(and taking care of your Dad). Please keep us informed and know you both are in my thoughts. Next year will be here before we all know it! ;)
-
Get well soon, Keenan. You take good care of him Lulyn and I look forward to meeting you both and seeing that Tipi next year.
-
Lulyn...You sit on Him ...if You have to....He needs to get well and get that Back fixed proper...there is always next year...I have L4 and 5 in dire Shape myself...but not nearly as Bad a Keenan...My Brother and Mom both had the same troubles...Mom had Hers fused...Brother opted for the Disc Replacement....Mom is doing great....Brother is in more Pain now than before....go figure!

Lulyn this is disappointing news as I was really looking forward to meeting you all. I know Keenan is especially frustrated. Get him well so he can come back next year. Then we can have a party in the Tipi. ~The First Annual Tipi Bash 2011~ ;D
-

Praying for yoy buddy. Get well and we will all get to meet you next year.
-
Keenan, you need to get well first. With your back hurting that much you wouldn't be able to do anything fun except tip those jars of Spring water. Get that back fixed and we'll see you next year. And maybe then, the only difference is you'll feel better and be a year older. ;)
-
Hey everybody,
LuLyn here. :) Thanks so much for the support and encouragement. A tipi party next year sounds awesome, I am loving the tipi bash 2011 thing. I may have some Tshirts made up, so when we get there you'll recgonize us. Of course, we are both under 5'6" and blonde and are staying in a tipi. Ha! Ha!
Keep the support up, my stubborn hubby needs it. It is pretty frustrating to look forward to something so much and then have it slip away. He is pretty disappointed. On the flip side, next year, he will be in alot better shape and will enjoy the event so much more. I better be careful, he might get well enough to give me a run for my money, because I can take him right now!! It's the only way I can keep him in line. Ha!! Ha!!
He was out in his shop this morning and I think you will be seeing some more creations from him soon. Such a talented lil fella, he is.
I guess I will be posting on her a little more frequently, so I can keep you posted on Keenan's progress. Thanks again everyone , and I can't wait for next year. LuLyn
-
Keep him in line, LuLyn, he's seems to be a stubborn, tough, old bird. ;D Next year will get here real quick.
-
Sending up the prayers. What's your Dad's name ? ' Frank
-
I was looking forward to finally getting to meet y'all, but you need to take care of your health and family first. We'll be thinking about you, and we'll tip a jar of spring water in your direction. :)
-
You get yourself well out there Keenan, and thanks for keeping us updated Lulyn. Look forward to meeting ya'll next year..
-
:( hope the pain eases and the surgery passes without hitch, Keenan. Also hope things go well with your dad, LuLyn.
Steve.

This is Keenan, thank you so much for the support, encouragement and prayers. Lulyn's father (Kieth) is out of the hospital and on our couch for a couple weeks. They removed a lemon size mass fromhis prostate and will take some more out in a few weeks. We are still waiting for the biopsy results and will keep you posted.
I was very moved by reading this and I apologize for my absence. Yes I am very stuburn at times, and had my heart so set on going to the Classic to meet everyone, that it really put me in an emotional pitty party for a few days. I know that I need the surgery, but was determined to have it according to my schedule and really didn't want to listen to my wife, friends and family all trying to change my mind. I know it is best and the advice is all because of concerns and love, yet as apolitical as I am I hate it when logic out ways my wants. Guess I am a stuburn old goat.
We are still waiting for the insurance to approve everything but my surgery should be this week. We will try to keep this updated.
Marie, Lulyn really liked your Tipi bash idea.
-
Hi Keenan, Pappy just told me this weekend about you and Lulyn not being able to make it. I am SO aware of how bumps or in some cases...sinkholes (large enough to bury a transfer truck! :)) in lifes road can turn your life upside down. I'll will miss meeting you both, and will be thinking of you and hoping/praying for a successful outcome from your surgery. I know this is a huge disappointment for you...I know you're thankful to have the love and support of friends, family, and especially LuLyn through this surgery and recovery. :)
Take care of yourself, and we'll be meeting the two of you before you know it!
-
Keenan please keep us posted. I know there is a reason for this timing and next year you will probably be able to look back and understand it better.
I am totally for having a 1st Annual K&L Tipi Bash 2011 to be held in conjunction with the ever so fabulous TN Classic. I think t-shirts and party hats will be in order for this event as well as much advance planning, discussions and preparation. Tina and Kathy will also help with the planning, I'm sure of that. I don't think we will need to book the clowns as we will have our share already out at the classic ;D. >:D
-
Jeesh Keenan! Just read the message here. Sorry to hear you Lulyn cant make it. But health issues come first. Going to see you at the Classic then in 2011! We westerners need to stick together, especially with the Yoopers surrounding us!
Hope you get well soon!

Thanks everyone, We are both strong beleivers. We have seen allot of out right miracles especially with Lulyn working in the hospital. So our faith stands strong through the storms of life. We know that life isn't promised to be a rose garden as well and we both know had to take the good with the bad.
We found out today that it hasn't spread to the lungs, so that is good. We meet with the docs again next week to get the game plan together.
We are still waiting for my back surgery to get approved. and the surgeon is out of town till the 10th of May so it's looking like the 11th for mine.
-
I spoke with Keenan last night. He went in this morning for his surgery. Despite the fact that this is a major operation his spirits seemed high. Please keep Keenan in your thoughts and pray for his speedy recovery.
-
Prayers are still going up for Keenan and His Family...

Thanks for the update Gordon. The Howards are still in my thoughts.

Wishing the best outcome for both Keenan and LuLyn's father!

Hey everyone,
I hope once again that I am posting in the right place. I just wanted to let everyone know how Keenan is doing. He had his back surgery yesterday and it was quite extensive. He was in surgery for 6 hrs and then in recovery for 4 hours. The surgeon says that his surgery went extremely well. It took a long time because his back is so seriously damaged. But we are hoping after recovery this surgery is really going to help him become functional again without all the pain. It will be a long recovery, but I asked the doctor today if we will make hunting season this August and he thinks we can shoot for it. :) I actually explained that all Keenan needed to do was guide for me and call the elk in and I would do the rest!! Ha ! Ha! I mean we could camo spray paint his walker and make little hooks for his bugle , etc.
He is in alot of pain, but he did get up and walk today. He is a tough cookie! This is where the stubborness and strongwill pays off. I hate to admit that, because he is a stubborn one.Ha! Ha!I am hoping he can come home in the next few days, but we will just have to see how he progresses. I also have to mention, the doctor said that he will be an inch taller now. Look out!!
Thanks everyone for all the prayers and support. I will take good care of my hubby... we gotta make the tipi bash next year in Tennessee.
Also, a quick note on my dad. We will be seeing the oncologist tommorrow to find out what his treatment options for his cancer are. One day at a time!! Blessings and prayers for all of you that had flooding troubles back there. LuLyn

;D........ ;D......... ;).......... :P
-
Keenan, prayers, and good wishes to you and your Father n Law. Attitude, attitude, attitude! Makes the difference!
Tiller, do I get the impression that you are about to create a new scented soap, just for El D? Something on the line of " EU DE Pasture " ? Or Essence of Boef Pate' " ? Hey, do you make any soap with "Dragon's blood" blood in it? It is sap, or oil from the Brazilian tree, called el Draco. Or dragon. It is red in color. Hence the name dragon's blood. ;) It is really quite an invigorating scent. 8) It would make a great aroma therapy scent. I bought some at a pow wow down here, a while back. Been trying to find more, and found a store that carries that brand. Kinda pricey, but if you want to dance, you have to pay the piper, right? Lulyn, take care of yourself also. I hope you have some help now and then. I hope you do get to go hunting this year, and you get a "Royal" !! :o Even If you have to put him in the toboggan, and tow him to the spot, with the four wheeler! ;D But then again, he just might like that, and want to do it again next year. ::) Uh......when you get one, who is going to skin, and quarter it up, and haul it back? You might have to dump him off the sled, and load the elk up, and take it back to the house, and then come back for him. ::) That is if you get the meat, hung up, and get yourself some coffee, or tea, and still have time to get back up to him before dark..... ;D That way, he won't be milking his temporary condition . ;) He'll just have to hurry up and heal up, and take care of the elk himself. ;) Take care, and again, prayers, and good wishes, to Keenan, and your Dad.

Wayne, never heard of Dragons Blood before. Sounds kinda interesting though!
El D, may get a real special soap one of these days. L'eau de Moo? ;-)
Hope your feeling better Keenan! We have got to get together again and do some knapping, archery and bow building.

Just want to say sorry for my long absence everyone. Things have smoothed some on the home front and Lulyn and I are learning to work as a team better with the care of her father(Kieth). Kieth has been real sick for a while now. He has some good days once in a while but most of the time is sick. Last week they scoped him again and it doesn't appear the Chemo has helped much. This week they are shifting to plan B with some stronger stuff, and may need to remove the bladder and prostate eventually.
Lulyn has been doing well and I'm getting stronger everyday and less pain in my legs now. It takes three months for the bone graphs to start growing and a year before they are full strength. But the hardware is holding and doing good. Also been doing physical therapy twice a week. The doc says no hunting this year but He doesn't know that I've been shooting for three weeks already. . We were able to get out Saturday and Lulyn helped me pack in a tree standand get it hung by a salt lick. Several other friends are going to help when needed a well, so I can get out on some short hunts. Lulyn is convinced that all I need to focus on this year is calling for her.
I feel that I've let people down by being away so long and I will try to be better about doing my part as a moderator. I will do my best to take the time to plug in more. Kieth is sleeping more but still having allot of nausea and it seems I'm constantly cleaning up but it is what is needed for now. I prayed to get to know him better and that has certainly happened with getting him moved in hear so we could care for him. He now says I'm his best friend and I wish I could do more to help and would love to get him out fishing again but not sure that is going to happen.
Thank you for the prayers and support. When I read down threw all the kind words, thoughts and prayers, I am reminded of just how much of a family that you all are. Looks like I have missed quite a bit.
-
Your family has been in my prayers buddy. Take care of the family and yourself first...we'll all be here when things calm down ;)
-
Thanks Jeff ;)
-
Glad to hear from you Keenan...prayers are still coming from Texas too...God Bless....

Keenan,Hang in there man.I know what you are goin through. My soon to be 15yr old stepdaughter has had 9 surgeries on her back and is fused from her neck to her tailbone. Its a long tough road but the main thing is please dont overdo.Takes a long time to heal and short time to mess things up.Lot of sleepless nights. How many did they fuse?If you dont mind me asking. Please take care and I wish you the best of luck and a full recovery.Ya know ya kinda take stuff for granted until things like this come up.Keep ya spirits up and head held high.Your family is in our thoughts and prayers!!

been out of the loop brother. i learned more than ever over the past couple years that life has a habit of kickin us square in the jewels at times, and it looks like youve had your share of kicks. the one lesson it teaches us is what is important. no amount of money, big cars, jewelry or living the high life can replace being with friends and family, watching the moon or the sun cross the sky or just staring into the eyes of the one your with. listen to the wind today brother, theres a lot of good energy coming your way. peace
-
Keenan,
Long time no hear from. I started reading this thread and didn't know what I would find by the time I got to the end of it.
So, you have gone through a surgery and are at the other end trying to heal. I am sure you are glad to be where you are now
instead of where you were. Life is full of loops, hurdles and (fill in the blank) Glad you are on the mend and the worst is over
for you. Tara
