Title: Osceola Down

I love it when a plan works like it's supposed to. I thought I had this big boy last Saturday only to have him fly down 60 yards from me and walk in the other direction. That morning I watched him gobble on the roost for 40 minutes, gobbling about every 15 seconds, non-stop.

 Well this morning, I set up about 200 yards from where he was last week and sat and hoped he was still roosting in the same Cypress Hammock. And he was. At 6:40 he started hammering again, just like last week. And this time I was sitting where he went the week before. Well he kept it up till 7:00 and I saw him fly down. When he hit the ground I started cuttin' and then shut up and waited. I knew I was reeling him in when he kept gobbling and getting closer. I finaly got him at 5 yards, that's why the head is in that shape.

 18#, 9 1/2" beard and spurs starting to hook. One was an 1 1/2" and the other just a tad over an 1 1/2". One more week to go here.

damn thats a nice bird
ive got buzzard fever so dang bad adn cant hunt for 4 weeks yet :'(

Looks like today was a mighty fine day for a killin!
 Me, my brother, my cousin and his girlfriend, two buddys from work and the boy I took...all killed birds this morning 8)

i was out looking for turkeys this morning
and did we see them,everywhere we looked we found birds,wish i could have been hunting

Nice Bird Eddie....I won't get to hunt this Spring...they got Me on 12 hour nights again....probably going to miss the Classic ...unless a Miracle happens....  I hate this damned Company more each damned day...they talk out the side of their face...can't never tell the truth...enough rambling....great shot on a fine Bird....

Well Mr. Mullet that there is a fine bird! I always loved them S.E. spurs lengths. We got the weight and beards up here but not them spurs.

 Thanks, ElD, HT, and Tim. I wish we had the weight sometimes, but after the meat is all gone it sure is nice to still have those long hooks. My longest yet is 1 5/8". It's on Florida's Outstanding Turkey Registry.

Wow what a hog! ::)  Nice bird Eddie. Good job out smarting the old tom. Getting him to 5 yards is awesome and definitely some skill. Congratulations

 Chris, this one came off my lease. I have till next weekend till I'm Officialy kicked off. I'm going to hunt the swamp next weekend. I have to get at least one Green Swamp bird each year.

watch out for the pythons.  i don't know about hunting in an area that you have to watch out for gators, cottonmouths, and your favorites, the bananna spiders.  now you have pythons to watch out for while wading.  watching a show about the florida exotics the other week and it said the pythons are spreading northward toward your area.  also had a nile monitor lizard heading your direction.

Well I will be "dog gone" nice hooks, I did have some that looked like that, but now only memories!! Are you going to make it back here to hunt, the season closes May 16th, if that even matters to you!  ;D
