whew I am getting to old for this,,this load should hull out 150 to 175 staves,,back to splitting,,break is over,, ;D

Even though that looks like an awefull lot of work, i still wish i could find some osage trees in minnesota!

yes it is I think we broke 3 handles yesterday,,good thing I have a dozen ,,I think the vibration from hitting the 20 pound wedges with 10 pound hammers,,not to mention my right arm,, ;D

I have been splitting staves today,,no fun in this hot weather,,going back monday to get a few more loads,,trying to get at least a 1000 put up for next year,,getting close,,

you must have some serious wasp abatement going on in yer yard/shop? That would be terrible if bugs ate 1000 staves :'( The one I ordered off of ebay recently had borers, I just set it out in some crisp idaho weather for a week, and sure enough they were dead when I took the sap wood off

most of these staves will be put in storage for at least a year,,I split them wide then pull out in a year and split in half,, I find the split is more predictable after dried,,
