My fiance took me to get an early birthday present Saturday.  Spent Saturday putting the base together and tuning it and Sunday made a bow blank with it in record time!   It is a brand new Porter Cable 14" 1.5 hp bandsaw, it cuts through HHB and Osage like butter with a 1/2 inch 4 tpi blade.   Needless to say I am a happy camper right now.  Now I need to go harvest some more logs!!!!    :)  Happy Birthday to me!

I got a 6" "Jobmate" for $39 @ Canadian Tire.  I think an osage stave would go through it like butter.  With a good swing.   :P

All right Josh! Gotta like that fresh love. I've been married so long that I don't even get dirty looks for my birthday anymore.  ;)

Nice saw, Josh. Don't run her off yet.

I speak as a man who is missing 2 fingers.
Lower that guard!  Unless the stock you were cutting is 6" tall, your guard is way too high.  Drop it down to about 1/4 or 1/2" above the stock. Maybe the photo is deceiving me, but I'd hate for you to lose a finger too.
Nice toy by the way.

				Thanks Everybody!
And thank you for the tip Diligence.  I had it up cause the HHB I was cutting out was a split log to start with and I never lowered it from when I was cutting out the stave from the log.  i will do so in the future though... thanks for the warning!   :)

Glad to help.  Those exposed blades can be nasty!

Wow, it's still shiny!  Mine's had a few over-haul's and even has some wooden parts at this point, but still works like a champ!
Happy Birthday, also.
