So I've been meaning to take some pics of my first attempt and post them. Finally got round to it this evening but had some issues uploading all of them so for now, here's one showing the tiller at full draw - 27" I think.

p.s. all I really did on this one was to final tiller a pre-glued stave. Next bow will be an Osage AFB.

looks nice to me, man. tiller looks good, nice and even, smooth curve.
What are the dimensions and draw weight? And are you going to finish it? i.e. some stain or something?

Length is 68.5 nock to nock, about 31# at my draw (I think I over exercised the limbs and compressed the belly too much) but I'm using it to practice my form and when I get the arrows going where I want them to go, I'll shorten the tips, overlay with horn or Irish deer antler, make a new string myself (gonna be Dacron, I'm afraid guys - for the moment, at least) and tune some arrows and keep shooting her :)
First bow holds a special place in the heart of it's maker, am I right?

Oldbow... not sure if it should be included as it's technically not at the "finished stage" yet. Not even wrapped the grip yet. But thanks for the thought :)

You can see it wasn't a well made stave to begin with... the bamboo wasn't tapered correctly before it was glued to the ipe. Needless to say, I won't be using "shop-bought" staves again but it's all one giant learning curve :)

Glued a small lam of makori (that's what I was told it was) to the back of the grip to add a little weight. I didn't want to file down the 'boo node, or glue it up either so I carved out a gapping hollow for the node to do it's work within. In total, it added a whopping 4#... :o hehe
