one flute stopped dead and the other i lost some of cleaning up the edges. rough as hell. not sure what this stuff is but it comes out of the center of the state and i keep finding a piece here or there i can work. mostly antler but i broke out the copper to try and pop off a few steps. didnt work out well. forgot to take a side pic. its about 3/8" thick.

Doesn't look bad to me jamie especially for some tough rock
-
Looks good to me too, jamie.
-
Looks tough. That's a fine job for what you had to work with.
-
Good looking point for some unfriendly looking rock.

Cool looking point, especially from what it is made of. Did you try heat treating any of it?

Looks real good on that leverite material ;D Bob

Damn jamie...that's awesome! Clovis ponts are VERY difficult to make, and you were able to make it out of some very tough stone. You are a top-notch knapper in my opinion!
-
Look's like a real Clovis to me. Nice, Jamie.

That does look like some nice tough local stuff for ya Jamie - and you made it work out just fine!!

thanks guys. talked to an archeologist last night about the material. kind of a mix between fine grained quartz and granite. seems like good stuff as far as ct is concerned. heat would kill this stuff wayne. gonna try to locate more. one thing i learned with this piece is dont drop your flakes. your gonna need em to hammer off the steps that are left behind.

Looks like a really nice point from some really nasty rock. I hope you didn't miss when you were hitting that stuff. ;D
