Title: Toasting bamboo
Post by: kiltedcelt on January 27, 2010, 12:58:17 am
If you're toasting bamboo to apply to the belly of a bow, do you sand the rind off first or can you toast first and sand later?

it is far better to leave the rind on when tempering ,a full carbonization requires the rind to be there, also the strip needs to be full thickness ,,you cannot fully darken a  boo strip at its final dimension :'(..on another note up to 20 # - sometimes  even more, can be achieved from a full temper.. very easy to over build the bow.....james
