Hi all,
If there's anything good to be said for the current sorry weather we're having (Indianapolis area), it'd be that I have more time to tinker in my Underground Lair. So...
This is actually an earlier bow that was too heavy for me, and felt like it was stacking a lot near the end of draw, so I started lightening it up a bit, as well as fiddling around with colors and finishes, and grips and floppy rests. I thought I'd lightened it too much, but it still draws about 45-47#@28, and feels pretty smooth through the entire draw, so it'll do OK for target shooting.
The color is green artists acrylic mixed with a water based polycrylic satin finish, followed by three more coats of clear satin finish. The linen backing is painted with multiple shades of green artists acrylic. Sorry for the pics, my little camera is right up against it's limits :-\.
The really big deal for me is that nearly all the weight reduction was done with my new set of scrapers (best. tool. ever.), with just a little filing and light sanding.
It ain't art, but it's fun. ;D

Cool 8) very nice looking tiller as well. You might want to let it dry a bit more. Looks a little "green" :D

Thanks everyone!
sulpher and elk, alas, I was too old for a green machine, and too young to get one "for my kids" ;). I'm from the playing card and clothes pin biking set ;D.
Dane, I haven't seen PatB yet, maybe I'm his evil twin, too.
I wont get a chance to shoot till Wednesday (other than fragging an old shaft off the wall of the basement, er, Underground Lair >:D), I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again everyone for all the kind words and help!

Hi all,
Well, considering it's me doing the shooting, I'm real happy! :D It was slappy and twangy at first, but when i took the brace up to fist and thumb height it settled right in. It is smooth through the entire draw and the floppy rest works great (I might want to go just a skosh heavier on the leather next time, but it's not a problem.) It does shoot a bit different from my red oak bows, but I'm hard pressed to describe what that difference is. Once I relaxed and saw where it wanted to shoot, things got better.
And here's my own archers paradox... we shoot at all kinds of targets, when it's a big bulls eye, my groupings look like buckshot. But as soon as someone hangs up a little stuffed animal, say squirrel sized, it's like someone else is shooting. Thok thok thok. What's up with that?! ???

NTProf, it's from a 6 foot 1x2 maple board with a shorter piec of the same for the riser.
