Thanks Everyone, I plan to try and do some effigy soon.

great job on that one! I often have problems when I start to change direction and notch upward. One flake will often go too deep, wrap around and remove the ear, effectively erasing the upward turn. Then it just looks like a side notched point with wide, open notches which isn't what I wanted to do. I think one important trick is to get the base as thin as possible...that makes it easier to do the fine notches cause you don't have to remove so much material with each flake. If you crush an edge inside that notch then you have to build up excessive pressure in order to remove the next flake....and that spells big trouble. But it looks like you have it under control!
-
Awesome point. I hope you guys are going to demonstrate your notch punching techniques at the classic. I really look forward to seeing you pros busting some rock!
-
Yes billy, i have run into the same problems a few times. i did that one this point, it was a little longer but i knocked off half a inch and tyred again.
-
That looks great, Jesse. What few of those I've made, I usually wind up popping an ear off one side just when it's almost finished.
-
Jesse, Looks like ya got a keeper for sure. I like it alot. Later Bob

Beautiful Point. Great Job!
I love cabbing Brazilian agate. It's super hard and
you can do about whatever you want with it.
I'd have to hold on to that one until I finished another one like it,
and I, for one, would sure like to see it. ;D
I've got a bunch of that material, rough nodules or slabs, so give me a shout
if you need any. It's hard to imagine spalling one of those nodules,( I've never tried),
so I'm guessing you started with a slab.

You're right, Joe. That is some hard rock, but it is like butter when it's heat treated.

That is a real beauty, the notching is awesome.
