Guys, I have seen refrences to floppy arrow rests. I think it sounds like something we might like to try on my daughter's bow. Can any of you that have used them post pictures to give me some ideas? Thanks in advance. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!
-
PatB has probally used them more than anybody else on here. Unless Mickey Lotz will come on. I think he came up with the Idea.

mickey did have a website with all the info..but i don't heve that link anymore....does anyone have it? Steve
-
No Steve, Mickey's site has been down for quite some time. It really is a shame because he had so much great info on there.
-
Here's a picture of the plans Mickey made up for the rest, enjoy.

Mickey came up with the idea for those of us who might like shooting off the knuckle, without the hassle of cutting our fingers with feather quills. I suggested he call it the Ferret's Floppy Arrarest (TM). I have used nothing but floppy rests on every bow I make and I love them. Since then, we've had the Ferret's Floppy Ruler (TM) bow layout tool. Mickey is one of those genuine helpful friends. He's married to one great lady (Dianne) too!
Again, as the one who named the orignal Ferret's Floppy Arrarest (TM), I much remind you that the Ferret's Floppy Arrarest, and Ferret's Floppy Ruler are the property of Mickey Lotz, and any reproduction, rebroadcast or retransmission without the expressed written consent of Major League Baseball is strictly prohibited.

I would like to see the Ferrets Floppy Ruler bow layout tool.

well hevk ifn the floppy rest is trade marked
then i better quit uing it and just stick with the leather arrow rest ;)
-
Mickey and John Scifres sites were lost to the world when MSN groups closed their service. Good stuff on BOTH sites. Sure am glad that George moved his so that all that valuable information is not lost to the first timer.
-
Thanks for posting that sketch, I too had been searching, in vain, for the details of the famed floppy rest. What thickness is best for the leather?

That is why most of us refer to it as Ferret's floppy arrow rest. ;D

Here is my first attempt at a floppy rest. It isn't very "floppy" 'cause I glued the leather together where it folded for the actual rest. Once the leather breaks in a little I think it will be just right.

I have a few of these and yes Mickey still has some left.I'll try to get some extras to bring down to the classic this spring.
It's a clear plastic ruler with many layout marks, starting at the center of the rule and going both directions, simplifies the measure.Very thin so one can bend it over the back of the bow for layout. I'll try to get a pic up later.

I have a few floppy rules that Mickey sent me but they are printed on paper.
-
Excellent Timo, I'd love to see a photo....or a scan of the paper version Pat.

I have several in my box that Mickey left me,they are great little tools,I don't use them much,
hard headed I guess but I tried it out and it is great, especially for someone starting out,you don't have to remember measurements,it's all on the rule.I need to try one of them ferret floppy rest.
Simple and effective ,just the way I like things. ;) :)
