i dont know if i am right or not..but,i am all way looking for new tools for bow making...and with the few bows i have made i have found out is that..the best tool i have found for bow making is my own eyes...its kind of funny how i look at things now..john

cool. My best tool yet is a plane. My eyes are too soft and have too much pain on them to remove much wood.
-
ohhhh man, just close your eyes next time.. ;D..john

Drawknife. :) jawge

for me its my sure form
-
Man I would have to say I use my pocketknife alot. It just seems to work great for rounding edges and scrapeing.

Brain even though it gets a bit dull sometimes ;)
-
I have to agree with Justin....I was weaned on a ferriers rasp....and it's still My Go-To Tool.......
-
tough question there.
as power tools go, that would be my belt sander. for hand tools, i have to go with 4-in-1 rasp, with the sureform and plan close behind it.
i try to find a good use for any tool i'm lucky enough to lay my hands on or make, and to balance it out i try not to place too much importance on any of them.

I have to say that the Shinto saw rasps have been pulling my eyes toward them lately.

As far as layout, tillering, string alignment, absolutely trust your eyes, and yer finger tips as a thickness gauge. But as far as an actual tool, my bandsaw, followed by a 6x48 sander, saves me a ton of time on work I have no interest in, and leaves me time for the stuff that counts.
-
draw knife, I use it for 80% of the bow making process... I have found no other tool I like better. :) -josh

cold beer. got me through a bunch of wood shavings.
-
yes, but make sure the strain the wood shavings out while you're drinking it.
-
I think the greatest tool in my kit is the Torges scraper. Basically a modified chair scraper with a flat blade.

PA website has been the best tool for me ;)
