Title: Barrage Wins November Self Bow of the Month

Congratulations to Travis Siemens (Barrage) from Calgary, Alberta
His Well-Crafted Sinewed Short Maple Recurve Wins Honors for November Self Bow of the Month

Here is how he made this bow:
This is the first sinew backed bow I have done and I gotta say, wow!  It's a snappy shooter and very fun little bow. 
As for details, it's 48" ntn.  Around 48# or so at 26" with a bit of bend through the handle.  Maple was recurved, pretillered and heat treated prior to sinewing.  2 layers of sinew where layed down with knox.  The handle is leather strips that were laminated and glued on after sinewing to the back and belly, and then shaped.  No reflex was heat treated in, but the sinew did induce a small amount, probably a bit over 1".  After shooting in, it was back to straight.  Nocks are basically pin nocks.  Thanks for looking!

Terrific bow.
I'm not bitter and twisted (much) or complaining (much  ;) ) but is a sinew backed bow really 'self' ?
I'm just asking...honest  O:) <mumble, mumble, exits monitor left yowling>

A sinewed self bow is as self as it gets

It is possible to think that a self bow should not be backed.
IMHO a sinew backed bow is more like a hickory backed bow.
But the latter is deemed to be laminated here.
Is the artificial sinew string backing allowed?

Anyone can believe what they will but it wouldn't matter much because from what I see this bow is a winner.(IMHO) Wow! Great job!
