Title: Flint river "dagger" (no...not the Danish kind)
Post by: FlintWalker on November 30, 2009, 10:50:34 pm
Jesse's been making those super cool Danish daggers lately. So I decided to try one myself.   I'm nowhere near even thinking about the kind he makes, but I thought this style would look nice hafted to a handle.
It's 5" long and some of that AWESOME flint river.

I have to ask.... was it FOG? If not, that thing should go into the "Hall of Blades". If it is fog, it is still one of the finest flint blades I have seen. It would definitly compete with any of the Obsidian fog blades being made. Simply AWESOME any way you go about it.
Another question.... I have been seeing a lot of posting with this "River Flint". I would love to get my hands on some. Are you purchasing it, finding it, trading for it???????

That thing deserves some kind of special handle. That is one hell of a blade!

We need an avitar for "blush" :-[
Pokie, I'd walk to the Classic if I had too.  The question is...Are you gonna be there???
Steven, F.O.G. is flake over grind.  I don't know how to do that.  This one was from a spall that was given to me. I don't know where you could buy any though ???

SAW, I wasn,t asking what fog was, I was asking if you used fog. Not that there is anything wrong with fog. On the other hand, I personally feel that to hammer out a blade the quality of this blade and doing it the old way is way more impressive and takes way more skill. I am not trying to go off point with a discussion on fog. I am just say how much more I appreciate your skill in knocking this one out of the middle of a rock. Like I said before, that is one heck of a blade!

If anyone else know where I can get some of this river flint, please let me know.

Nice!  That is some way cool hall of fame or calender material right there! 8)  I'd like to see that bad blade in action on a deer or elk hunt.  Who hunts wild boars on this site?

Wolf watcher, I think we need to get Shannon off of here, till he has been knapping for about ten to twenty years, and "THEN" let him start showing his stuff on here. ;)  Sheesh!  Shannon, that is absolutely beautiful! :o
