i just got done with a vm bow that bends through the handle..i want to put an arrow rest on it but there is very little wood to mount any thing...and i dont want to shoot off my hand...so,do you guy have any ideas...i think i can put a piece of leather or maybe a tiny piece of bone..just think about this as i write..thanks john
-
i use leather on my bendy handle bows of VM- bone would not flex and want to pop off
-
thanks so much aaron..that is a great point..did think of that :P...john
-
Have you tried a floppy rest? They work great and are simple to construct.
-
no,i havent pat..i will get my books and take a look..thanks john
-
Go with what pat said...floppy rests are the best...I used to have a horn rest on my longbow and it would make the arrows unstable so i put a floppy on it and now it shoots straight...go with the floppy!

Stacked leather glued on with contact cement, shaved and shaped with a single edge razor blade, covered with grip leather, and then, a leather grip. pic below.

That is just plain sexy!

On mine I just cut the skinny part off a golf tee, then sand it flat and glue it on. When it is on then I shape it a bit. I think I saw that in Gordon's hazel build along.

Hey Radius (or is it Radio >:D) that is the Yew bush bow. I told you I was a baby, no knuckle shootin for me. that is how I do most my bows. I have not tried the floppy rest though, sounds like I shout give it a try. No new bows? You're not slacking off are you?

Looks good Dano, I will give it a try.

Essentially, putting a glove on the bow, vs wearing a heavy leather glove:)
-
hey thanks dano..i looked for ferrets web page..but i guess its gone :'(..it had alot of great info..thanks john
-
i use ferrets floppy rest a lot, its quick, easy, fool proof, and works great.
i was sad to see ferrets site go, i think john scifres (sp) also lost his site, i thought he had some of the best build alongs on the web.
