Title: Cured?
Post by: islandpiper on November 03, 2009, 08:19:32 am
Fellows, I may be cured.   I haven't made a bow in over a month.  In fact, I don't remember if I have shot an arrow in the last month. My addiction may be broken.

(Actually, i have been so )(**&(*^^  busy just trying to survive and pay the bills that I have not had any extra time to goof off and scrape wood.  Dang)

Like all of my addictions in the past (tobacco, kicked it when I was 16 and alcohol, gave it up when I was 40) bow making is so similar it is scary. I will swear off bow making to concentrate on other things, be out in the shop and think "look at that stave in the corner, I think I will chase a grain on about a foot of it to see how hard it will be when I decide to make another bow" a couple hours later I have the back chased and bow planned. Reminds me of the days 22 yeas ago when I would think " I will just have one beer to see if I still like the stuff". Of course you all know how that decision went.
