Title: boo ?

i cutsome boo  but it has a convexity to it.  i no to plane it down, but i can nly go so far.  do yopu use heat to get it flat?  if so, tell me the process please

What is the species?  How big is the diameter?  With Moso, in order to get it completely planed, the boo has to have a diameter of about 5" or so.  With this, it will plane flatten fairly easily...

not sure the type, we've always called it bamboo or river cane. of course its alot bigger than most cane(http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l338/knap_123/blkwalnutosagestavebamboopoint035.jpg)

I have seen some guys from north AL use it and it did fine, I cut some that had what looked like a double node and it
broke between the nodes when I got it tillered almost to 28 inches.

I didn't ask anyone about the double node until it was too late I have found some down toward  Roanoke that is about twice that
size but I haven't got around to cutting it yet to try it.  I have a jointer planer if you need to use it your more than welcome.
