Title: Cultured Marble
Post by: HoBow on October 17, 2009, 04:16:02 pm
I broke a cultured marble bathroom vanity today.  Does anyone have any experience with trying to work this material?

I have a friend that had some.  It is not knappable, he was planning to peck and gring an ax head from it.  Bill

I think marble is way to grainy to knap. I am no expert, but if it is knappable I can get a bunch for next to nothing.

Jeff, if you have access to a diamond saw and diamond polishers you can cut and polish some neat looking knife handles for chipped blades.

Most culture marble is made from marble dust suspended in a polyester or other plastic resin. It's formulated not to break as you would like it to for knapping.
