Post by: yazoo on October 15, 2009, 09:18:26 pm
I am looking to layout a 52in kids bow, what handle length and fades does every one use?

The few kids bows I've done, I used a 3" handle and 1 1/2 fades, probably could go with a smaller handle depending on the child's age.

You could probably get away with a roughed in 3/8" limb thickness or 7/16" if you want to really play it safe. I'm assuming you're working with osage...what kind of draw weight are you after?

I have used 3 to 3 1/2 inch handles with 1 1/2 inch fadeouts for bows as short as 40 inches.  These were almost all hickory board bows.

"I am looking for 18 to 20in draw and 20 25 pound and yes it is osage" That draw weight oughta be good for a wide range of ages.
