Title: a knotty problem
Post by: natty on October 08, 2009, 08:04:27 pm
Been working on a black locust self bow and found a knot about 8'' from the handle,( place on bottom?) I left a growth ring on the belly side. I am going to reflex the limb's. Any thought s on how the knot might affect the tiller?

I'm assuming since you just found it, it is only on the belly side. How big is it? I wouldn't worry a lot if it is only on the belly and small.

Knots are weak areas. I'd place it on the top. I'd think twice about reflexing unless it was pretty small. Got photos? Jawge
