Man...that will feel the freezer! Outta be plenty of sinew, too.... Good job and great shot! ;)
-
I got enough sinew to back a short bow. I sent Timo a picture of myself and my friend removing the hind quarter maybe he will post it, it really shows how big moose are.
-
That thar's one of those weird Kuhnadian deers init'? ;D ;D ;D
-
Awesome!!!!!
Thats a 18 antler bull or what!
And only 80 yards with a Bow!
Man, I live in the wrong country, no bowhunting on our Moose or anything.
-
Oh, I see. That IS a big deer. Congrats!
-
I've been waiting for a picture and you didn't disappoint! Excellent.
Did the arrow pass through completely?
-
Hats off to the skill and the moment:)
-
It's about time! I've been waiting to see this one. And yes...it is a really BIG deer. :o
-
Wow thats awesome!! But we need some details....depth of penetration, how far did he run after the hit, blood trail (heavy, medium, light)...etc!
Congrats on that moose....those things are awesome eating
-
I shot him at about 15 yards as he trotted off after I called him in to under 10 yards. The arrow struck about 2/3 back and 1/3 up on his right side (I was on one Knee and he was very slightly up hill), the arrow passed through both lungs and exited the far shoulder penetrating the top of the scapula (the wound you see in the photos). I found about 13 inches of shaft with the broadhead still intact about seven yards from where he went down. About ten inches of the shaft was still in the body cavity with feathers still attatched. The remainder of the arrow was in splinters in his shoulder (I assume broken by the scapula and ribb bones as he ran). He went only 80 yards on a dead run, looking back once as I grunted to try and stop him. I heard him crash when he went down. Good blood but not the best I have seen and moose leave spoor head high when they run through brush, kind of weird. Total penetration was probably over 40 inches just a guess.

Timo moose are the largest member of the deer family just a play on words and trying to have a little fun
-
You ought to keep the skin and brain tan that sucker!!! That would be awesome...and it would make a hell of a bedspread!
-
Congratulations on a really fine trophy! I had the opportunity on an invite to hunt moose in Maine a few years back and got a bull the first evening. It was with a rifle, and I really didn't care for the hunt. The way you did it would definitely be a horse of a different color and a real accomplishment. ;)
-
GM: That is one hunt you will never forget. Great job. I had one really big boy pass thru the yard this morning while I was out doing chores. One of my favorite memories was shooting one many years ago with all the gear I made myself. Have only drawn one moose tag and got lucky! Went to Alberta last year to hunt them with no luck even seeing one! Am thinking of trying the Yukon this coming year! You will like the meat! Pokie
-
Good on you brother, that is a fine harvest... nice looking ow as well.. Hawk
-
Thats what it's all about. Lots of meat, and lots of memories. Good shootin....Brokenhand....Aho.
-
Billy,
We skinned it buffalo style and there are places on that hide that are over 1/2 in thick I would not attempt a brain tan on that thing for all the world. Just the cape weighed over 30 lbs.
-
That's awesome Chris ! Congrats! Hope to meet you in a few weeks!
-
