Hi everyone,
Well, finished this one up today. This will be my 'humidity' hunting bow. It is Ipe, backed with hickory and white oak tip overlays. Bit over an inch near the handle down to 3/8 tips. It is 60 @ 27, 64" long. I stained the hickory backing to darken it up as I'm planning to get out and hunt with this bow. Also, a few coats of tung oil and I'm going to wax it before hunting to take away some sheen. I wrapped hemp around handle area and then stitched the leather.
It's a milestone bow for me in a way because this is what I wanted to build when I started 10 months ago. Well, I've finally got it. It's my first self made hickory backing and my first proper leather handle wrap. I shot about 50 arrows this evening. With the string silencers, it's got a very flat 'thump' sound when shooting, no vibration. I like it. ;D
Hope you like it - thanks for looking.
