I have been spending a lot of time lately downstairs in the garage working on a new bow. Well, Thursday night I went to bed at 10:30, and at about 2:00 am, I realize that I am standing (in my boxers) in my workshop in the garage. I just kind of came to and was looking around trying to figure out what was going on. I must have been dreaming about bowmaking or something. I guess I was sleep walking. I had to open a child proof gate and go down a flight of stairs to get into the garage. I quietly went upstairs and went back to bed. I have never had anything like this happen before. It was funny, but kind of freaked me out a little. I could have fallen down the stairs or something. Luckily I didn't fire up the bandsaw or anything.

Welcome to the addiction. ;D

luckily :D

I've dreamed about making bows before, every night ::), but I don't think I've ever actually done it. You might be on to something though, there's never enough time to make all the bows I want the only spare time I have I sleep. Now I just have to figure out how to do them at the same time like you. :D

lol. you might be an addict when......
glad you didnt do anything unfortunate like.....kill yourself on the stairs. :-\

Haven't done that, have woken up staring into the refrigerator, though. Had to walk down stairs to get there! It is freaky!

How old are you?
It's quite common to sleepwalk in your adolescence.
When I was a kid, I went down stairs, out the back..up the garden, over the little bridge over the pond, stood around for a bit then went back.
All fast asleep stark nekid...witnessed by my big Sis whose bedroom was down stairs, she'd been woken by the noise :o
Like you say, lucky there was no machinery involved... I had a Lambretta scooter at the time.
I certainly dream about bowmaking...

I am 29. Maybe stress related, although I am not a stressful person. I have been working some OT at work and we are trying to get a house built. We are on a tight time frame, and it has rained for the past 7 days.
I have also been spending a lot of time reading TBB1 before I go to bed. Maybe I had a good idea in my sleep and went down to try it out.

i´m dreaming alot of bow-making and shooting. these are very detailed dreams in bowbulding, stringmaking, shooting skills, hunting etc etc.
sometimes i feel like a drug addict ;)
i build bows, arrows and equipment. last week a fried asked me: "why do you build such alot bows? you can only shoot with one of them."
the answer came automatically: "cause its an obsession!"

At least you have an excuse if it blows up. You can say that it was something you did while you were asleep, it wasn't your fault. :D

When you finally awoke in the shop was the light on or off? (serious question)

Did the tillering process come along more natural while asleep?? (not a serious question)

I know someone that got in his truck backed over his neighbors mailbox, got out, got a post, bag of concrete, tools, fixed it. Went back inside and went to sleep. Next day neighbor thanked him for fixing it so quickly. He had no recollection, whatsoever. The true and scary punchline: Ambien. Makes you wonder what could happen with a loaded weapon... :-\

I don't make bows in my sleep but have learned not to work in my shop past 6pm. If I do I will still be wide awake way past bed time, staring at the ceiling and making bows in my head.

The lights were out. I was just standing there in the dark.

I had spent a couple of days cleaning it up while working, so it wasn't to bad.
