Title: Gettin ready
Post by: Timo on September 05, 2009, 10:57:13 pm
Finally managed some time this week to get some heads ready for killin. These are the heads I knapped a while back. All raw Tx rock, georgetown and perds.  I sinewed the far left point last week, the others are freshly sinewed. That 2nd from left is probly the sharpest point I have ever made.it is in the #1 slot! All on tonkin cane, weights range from 535 to 542 grains.

Those should work Tim. All you need is something to shoot them into. ;)...or through! ;D

I still need to shoot them a time or two, then put the finish edge on them. Then (or course) I need to get some more made up, cause 5 arrows might not be quite enough? Anyone else have that problem? ;D

i have that problem all the time, one year when i was just getting into bow hunting turkeys(before i startted making my own gear).i went thru all 8 arrows in my quiver
all on the same bird.i shot, missed,he ran 10ft and stopped,i shot again and missed,he ran another 10ft and stopped and we went on lile this untill i was out of arows
then he just fed in front of me for like another 1.5 hrs, talk about being pissed off.but it was at myself for shaking so damn bad, nver knew a guy could get "tom fever" lol

Those look deadly, Tim. I once shot at a doe 7 times. I kept hitting limbs or missing by a hair. I was on the ground, no cover and 25 yards away. She would run 5 0r 6 feet and come back and sniff the arrow.

She finally walked off when number seven was my last arrow. I picked them all up and did a grunt call and the brain damaged doe came back. I got her with number 8 at 15 yards. ;D

Lol at you boys.....I quit shooting at turkeys after I miss with the 2nd arrow... ;)

But now on deer? I've climbed down out of the tree, recovered an arrow and shot again....and again.....ETC ;D

Got the arrows shot today, and was well pleased with the flight,(I got lucky) anyhow now they are touched up and ready!

Those look deadly, Tim.  I'm not getting mine finished as fast.  Got the cane strait, all but a little bit of final tweaking.  Got the points made, just can't seem to find enough time to set down and put them all together.  Need to get with it tho.  Unfortunately, we can't start hunting as early as you MO guys can.  Oct. 1 for us Okies.

Wish I had time to get some rock broke before season. Been too busy getting ready for a wedding reception. Those heads look great to me Tim! Kinda the same thing as pretty flowers look to a woman. :P
