Title: Little lady sinew backed Guava hunter
Post by: NOMADIC PIRATE on August 07, 2009, 01:27:48 am
This one was supposed to be for me, but it was shooting very much like a deep cut modern glass recurve, consistently 6" to the right.

so I made it for a lady that hunts those bows and wants to kill something with one of mine

40 # @ 25", 50" ntn, wilderbeast plate and rest ( ho yeah the rest is made bigger than my usual ones because that's what she used to ) Zebrawood overlays, thin leather backing, wraps are decorative the leather butted there

thanks,

Frank, actually the bow had a pretty much even reflex ( I did belly temper before sinewing ) I kept the outher limbs stiff so didn't take any set and look like they where flipped  ;)

I try see if i can find a picture of the bow before starting the bending process

For a second there, I thought we were going to get robbed the stump full draw stance.  But as usual, you never disappoint

How does sinew hold up down there?  Do you usual put sinew on your bows?  Just curious on how that wood holds up or if sinew was just a little extra security.

thanks guys,

The sinew is on there because I was planning a 70 # bow drawing 26"  being 50" ntn,.....well I have to work more with sinew to be able to judge, what I've seen so far on the 2 bows I made is that it seem the lose weight pretty quick while tillering, gotta pay attention.

..as for the pictures of the Lady, she doesn't even know I made this bow for her, I made one about a year ago but it's a bit too heavy, don't know when is the next time I make it to town to give it to her.

hed to retake the pictures of the tip, the blurry one was really bothering me  :D

You must live in a guava orchard.  Just getting better and better.  I really like your bows.  Always waiting for the next one you post.  I'm still trying for something decent enough to post here.  Getting close.
Keep it up please...
