Title: Green rind on bamboo
Post by: venisonburger on July 22, 2009, 10:42:50 am
Is there a difference between the yellow rind and green rind on bamboo? I have green rind on some bamboo I received and was wondering if it has to dry or if it's usable in the green form?

Haven't noticed a pronounced difference in performance.  I understand, antecdotally, the blond color is from a force drying treatment of some kind, usually imported boo.  The green stuff I've used was harvested in SouthEast, USA.  Of the two, knowing no more than I do, I'd favor the green, all else being equal.

usually if you leave the greenish looking boo in the sun for a few days, it'll turn yellow.

Ron, yours is fine, I got this from another generous individual. I have enough boo to make lots of bows now.
