I think I'm done with this one. I have redone the stain job 3 times. I'm satisfied with it now,, I think. I got this highly reflex/deflex blank from David Knight at the Tennesee Classic this year. I wanted to make a lighter, but fast shooting bow for a hog hunt that myself, Chris Cade and Pappy are going on at the Alexacarrie Plantation in August.
This little rocket launcher is 60"nock to nock, 49# @ 28". It is 1 1/8"wide from the handle, except the last 8", tapering sharply to needle tips of Fiddleback Maple. It is shooting 455 grn., Tonkin shafts in the high 180's through the chronograph. I think I'll call this bow" Öatmeal", the oats should be about knee high when we get there.

Nice job . I may have to wrap my handle like that. Those knightd cores are fast. I love mine.
-
Cool bow, Eddie. I can smell the pig blood from here! ;D David does build a nice glue-up and bow!
-
Nice job Eddie, you'll be smokin' them hogs.
-
Wow, is that the one? :)use that for the Oink and post pics. I can wait I'll send Out the 31st Just give me your Mailing address.Phillip
-
TJ, it's the fine hemp cord from china-mart. Thanks Pat and Dano. Phillip, yep that's the one.
-
Great bow Eddie. That looks like one of Davids blanks to me. I could pick one out of a lineup I'm pretty sure :). They do make some fast bows. Is that from the high r/d blank? You did a great job finishing it. I like the compass. Didn't bear bows have that for a while? Good idea actually. Easy to forget your compass but when its on the bow you'll always have it. Top limb looks a tad stiff in the mid outer to me. could just be the angle. How it shoots is what counts and it sounds like it shoots great. :)
-
Glad you got her done in time for your hunt.. If you take anything with it be sure to let us know.. You did a great job on it.. ;)
-
Good looking bow Eddie. Thats really scorching an arrow for sure.Ron
-
Eddie, Great looking bow, it looks like a screamer. "It has a compass in the stock and a thing which tells time".............Christmas Story Sorry I couldn't resist. ;D
-
sweet looking bow. can't wait to see if you can hit something with it! ;D
-
Jess, I think it's the angle, see the sun off the boo on the top limb. I'll post pictures for sure,David and Ronnie, it suprised me how fast. Rick, I almost added a thermometer on the other side but thought that was too much. Chris, thanks for the confidence vote, Buddy ;).
-
Yup its the angle. It's easy to get that taking pictures of such curvy bows. I have a hard time judging them even looking straight on sometimes ;D If you're putting up more pics I'd like to see more of that handle and compass. Might copy it if you dont mind
-
nice bow,very nice
always did like boo/ipe and then throw in a little r/d to boot, damn nice bow :o
might just have to try me one of them.
love the compass idea, but i can never find small ones like that, that actually point north.
peace,
tim
-
Sweet looking bow, very well done,Maybe get to see it up close in a few weeks. :)
Pappy
-
Sweet looking bow Eddie. 8) With that kind of speed, it oughta get some good hams-to vitals penetration..... ;D ;D ::)
-
You've got to be proud of this one! Bookmarked for July Laminate BOM fun, too.
-
Jesse, have at it with the compass, you're not copying me. Bear did it before I did.
Tim, I cut a survivor whistle up from Wmart, it's a good compass.
Thank's Pappy and Don. And hillbilly, Hams to vitals? I'll take anyway I can ;D
-
Sweet looking bow Eddie. Plenty of curve to those limbs. ;)
-
Looks like a screamer to me :) I like the compass but ya better not start putting GPS's in the handle ::)
-
Looks great Eddie! I know David had a little influence on it as well. ;D I really like the string angles both at brace and at full draw. Its about as good as they get. A featherburner for sure!
-
Thanks, Justin, Dana, and Rich.
-
Eddie, looks like everyone is looking forward to ya using that to get the piggy, I'll still trade ya and you can use the yew for a backup, when yer done you can send Send.

my question is: What protects the compass? Is it completely submerged in epoxy or something?
-
Yep, epoxy.

Great job, Eddie. I love these r/d bamboo backed bows. This one is a great one. I love the laminations and handle work. Great tiller. Nice stiffness near the end. Makes for a very fast bow. I know that 180 is perfectly possible with this design. Great job.

I thought today was wednsday, In the Mail tommorrow Send ya a PM when I get back from the Post Office Whats the temp down there? ,its pushin 60 here. Wonder how this Sinew will handle the change.
-
It will be pushing 90-95 and 80% humidity or more.I was outside at 6:30 AM and sweating.
-
Nice bow Eddie. You can keep that 90 degree weather though...... >:D
-
Thanks Ryan, Yea, I wish I was somewhere else right now.
-
love the south, hate the weather. its so humid you can practicly drink the air. and im in louisiana, must be worse in florida.
-
That's really an agressive shape and pretty cool, with beautiful finish. I have an r/d glued up with boo on bulletwood I'm looking forward to getting to this weekend
Dave
-
Looking forward to seeing it, Dave. Trey, it's so humid it's hard to breathe. I just got back from wading around some Wetlands and I'm soaked and the water was ankle deep.
-
You can come and spend the rest of the Summer here Eddie....while we are in Michigan....with the 105-115 degree temps... 50-70 mph winds....no rain and 10% humidity...so damned dry your Nose Bleeds daily...can't drink enough fluids to stay hydrated...if the Sun don't burn you....the Winds will!!! Are Ya comming........ ;D
-
Hey Eddie , Great looking bow an the arrow is awesome, where ya find that ugly looking coyote looks familiar, How do you stand the humidity? Good Luck on the Pork Hunt. Later Bob

-
gooood god!!!!
that sucker looks like its a half an inch long! :o
and i once again stand corrected. :D
-
They raise welts about the size of Quarters on Me....and itch for Days too....although Pappy's Ticks are worse....I still have two itching lumps from where two of them got dug in good....don't itch any less 3 months later........ >:(
-
Sweet looking bow, Eddie! If it weren't for that sexy Asyrian horn composite, you'd have had my vote... Tough to beat that Asian style for raw power and sex appeal, but you sure came close. Your bow has more curves on it than my wife! Makes you want to just string and unstring it all day long...
So how did the pig hunt go? Deer season doesn't start in Delaware until September, so I'm jonesing for some good news on your hunt...
Great job!
-
Jeez How many Bows have you made?! They all look good!
-
Thanks Greg and Bill. The hunt was a bust but I had a great time with Pappy and Chris. It was hot and a full moon. I had my chance when I went to a pistol and still missed. Missing and leaving the Alexacarrie Plantation empty handed doesn't happen very often.
One of the compound shooters got two. Pappy's got pictures on the "life is good" thread.
