Anyone making these ? Im looking for one but dont know where to start ! Thanks in advance !

Try Crazy Crow. Google it up. CC has a lot of throwing hawks. When you get one make the sides of the handle flat. If the sides are flat it will be less inclined to twist coming out of your hand and it also registers the head in line with your throw. Have fun.

Chad, One of the other things I enjoy making Is muzzleloading guns and the accouterments that go along with them. Heck, when I started out in this field, my wife congratulated me on 1000 Years of social evolution in less than six months, Hah! Hawk heads are available from many sources that deal with muzzleloading supplies, you might try google up something under that. the ones I make are from castings, they still require considerable amount of work to get them the way you want them, but thats the fun of it anyway. I'll show a couple I made from castings, the first one comes from Smiling Fox Forge, and is cast from an original head, rust pits and all, so there is a lot of filing to clean it up, but worth it. I think it is the most graceful and elegant head out there, if such words can be used to describe a hawk head.

This one was a pipe hawk I made into a pole axe, it comes from a company called Track of The Wolf.

Course, I had to dude them up a bit, but like I said that, at least for me, that is the fun in it. Good luck in this pursuit, if I can be of further help, let me know.

I love Hawks, those are nice, Robby. I let a good friend trade me out of my fine, forged Hawk.
-
Pretty amazing work robby. You are a maker that's for sure.

Guy's,
I had the pleasure of meeting Robby the other day and it sure was a grand time.
He is a craftsman and artist of the highest form!
I held those hawks!
and as amazing as they are with the metal inlays and engraving,
they are only a small portion of the bows, arrows, black powder guns and accouterments that Robby builds in his shop.
The guns especially, were amazing!

Hey Robby are those really functional or are they decorative? I think I can see that the hammer has been used on the one, looks like a little wear on it anyway, but would you take those camping/hunting and rely on them? Just a question I don't know anything about tommys, but I think those are really look wicked no matter if you can use them in the field.
-
I bet they are fuctional, for sure. A Hawk is one of the best camp tools I would own. You would not believe how easy it is just to open a can with the edge of one.
-
Not only functional but they have been used.
I had them in my grimey hands the other day!
You can see in the pics the sharpened edges and the stain has been worn up near the head and the handle where your hands would be.
He makes them pretty, :)
But thier made to be used!

Thank you for the kind words Buffalo, They are much appreciated. Michael, They are indeed practical and functional, I do admit, I get carried away with the decorative aspect of these tools we make. Everything I make has a practical application, Thats why I never understood golf.

Haha, my dad used to say the same thing about golf. Yeah they looked fantastic and I think it's great that you put all of that work onto it and they are still useful, makes it special.

excellent. now i have something else i have to make.

I need to wrap my hawk handle.
Behind the hawk head to keep it from slipping back, and
At the handle for better grip.
Been looking for sinew on the web but have not had much luck other than spools of it.
Is this ok to use?
Where are some good sources?
what else would you recommend?
Whole strips of sinew?
rawhide?
Give me some tips/ technique/ instruction for wrapping please.
I have seen some using paracord but this is not primitive.
thanks
