Title: cresting paints?
Post by: The Burnt Hill Archer on June 20, 2009, 09:14:04 pm
does anybody have any expierience with using oil based paint for cresting? and if so, would a wipe-on poly work for a finish over it? im only going to be doing like a 1/2" stripe, and i have a lot of oil based paints not doing anything.

thanks!
Phil

Oil based paint will work fine for cresting and after it dries, poly over it will be fine.

Acrylic craft paint works great too, and dries in minutes.

In my experience, an oil based finish will melt oil based paint, even when fully dry. I've only used model paint though. Acrylic paint with poly or spar urethane is a good combo.
