Can i just taper and glue on feild points to my cane shafts. They are pretty skinny and i didnt want to mess with inserts. Or if someone has an idea for a good feild point for this type of shaft. I cut self nocks and wrapped them. The one in the pic has a bone point. Im trimming feathers for the remaining 5 of this set. Jackcrafty you are my hero what do you think????
Any pointers would be great.
Thanks,
Mike

Good looking arrow. Yes, you can just taper it down like any other shaft if the walls are fairly thick. If the hole is too big, it don't take but a few seconds to glue a pice of bamboo skewer or whittled-out stick in the end. Little John makes some cool field points from nails that insert into cane arrows, they work good, too.

Really nice!

Cool arrow. I like your fletching. How do they fly?

Not sure yet havent got to shoot it yet. Was going to see how this one did before doing more. Thanks for the compliments. Ill let yall know.

Very nice ! What type of bone is that and where can ya get it ?
-
Hey there are no flys on that arrow, good job. You can just usa a nail inserted into the cane for an easy blunt and they still shoot into targets good. Keep up the good work. Kenneth

Mike, looks like a good solid arrow. I like the way you wrapped the point, feathers, and nock. The fletching looks like it will spin the arrow quite fast. Very cool arrow overall! :)
For field points, I've used homemade steel trade points (unsharpened). They work well as long as you don't hit wood (they are hard to pull out). If you hit a rock, the tip will curl but you can hammer it straight again.
Also, you can insert a bamboo skewer, cut it off flush, and wrap the tips with wire, sinew, or thread....using plenty of glue.

Thanks Pete.
Well it flew good... missed my hay bale and went right through a piece of plywood up to the feathers, kinda jacked up my fletching...
Oh well now it wont bother me so much to break or lose that one.
