Title: another BBI from a knightd blank
Post by: brownhillboy on June 07, 2009, 09:57:22 pm
This is the first of four blanks I got from David.  It's been done for a while, but I finally got some pics.  It's 64"ntn and 36#@27".  It came from one of David's medium r/d blanks.  I intended for it to be closer to 50#, but I had quite a bit of trouble figuring out how to tiller it right.  David spent a lot of time talking and emailing pics back and forth with me to help me get it.....still not sure it's ideal, but I think it's pretty close and it shoots very well.  I could pike it and gain some poundage, but I finally got my wife outside to try it out, and she liked it and shot it quite well so I decided to give it to her.  I'm not too happy with the job I did on the handle wrap, but it does feel good.  I laminated the tip overlays with bocote and shedua to match the woods in the handle.  I put a finish of tru-oil on it to seal and protect it.  I've found that I enjoy shooting it a lot myself...with the low poundage it's a lot easier to shoot a tight group...at least for me!  Well, I have two kid's blanks almost done for my boys that I'll be posting soon, and a high r/d blank to work on for me.  Thanks for looking!

Looks good. I just finished a BBO and found that the reflex tillering can be kinda tricky. I'm sure your wife will enjoy it a lot.

I think it came out real nice.  You did a good job on the tiller. Those R/d ipe bows are very touchy and the tiller and weight can change fast before you know it. 36# on a bow like that will still shoot plenty fast. Good job :)

I'm so envious! Great June Laminate BOM candidate. David produces the neatest R/D profiles and you finished it up with real craftsmanship.

Nice job.  It looks really good, those KnightD blanks are the real deal.  I'm finishing up one as well.

Thanks OldBow and Rick.  OldBow, don't be envious, just order one from David and I'm sure you can make one just as good or better.

Thanks Mike, and yeah, that's the good thing about light weight bows...more people can use them.
