Title: Bamboo backed Walnut
Post by: woodsrunner on May 15, 2009, 09:53:00 am
Anyone done any bbwalnut? Got a hart wood  board that is just beautiful and thought the contrast of light and dark would really make a gorgeous bow. Alas I have never had the opportunity to work with walnut and wondered if it would stand up to the boo backing? Any ideas welcome, will probably do it anyway just to see how it looks.

My first bamboo backed bow was a black walnut board bow.  I had to thin the boo reall thin and keep the design wide.  It did look good.  It was a nice shooter.  I have built lots of furniture with blackwalnut.  If you can stand the smell, it works pretty easy,.

If you kept the backing narrow it should be perfect.
