Title: Moisture meter?
Post by: Don on May 08, 2009, 04:39:49 pm
Need to get one but not crazy about $100 to $200 dollars.
I see alot on Ebay from $30 TO $50 dollars.
Would these be good enough? I don't need to be exact, do I?
I only do this as a hobby like many of us.
Thanks Don

I don't think you really need one. I have one i got in a trade on here when i first started, now it just sits on the work bench.

Just sold my mini lingo EC for $35 on ebay. I hardly used it. The probes only measure the surface. It's not hard to tell when wood is dry.

I have a Mini Ligno. I just keep checking as I work the stave down. That way I can get a good idea how dry the inner wood is. Jawge

i use the oldest version around
i just take and tap the end of the stave on the concrete floor or sidewalk and when it makes
a nice ringing sound instead of a dull thud, its dry enough for me.seems to work for me,dont seem like the wood is too wet
when i start working it after this either.
