This is my first post but I have been hanging around here for a few years .This is my sixth bow, my second Osage and my first takedown. She’s 60” n.t.n. 55@27 the billets I used had a lot of deflex so I decided to go with a sort of semi-recurve. The weight of the T/D sleeve makes her dead in the hand with absolutely no hand shock. This bow really shoots well and is my best effort yet. I include the following pictures and invite your constructive criticism. Dan

Looks real nice. Where did you get the take down sleeves from?
-
Sweet Bow!!! Well Done!

Great job. I have a set of billets and a take down sleeve thats just waiting until I have the courage to try it. Good to have you here. Danny

AWESOME!!!!!

Great looking bow! I've been thinking about trying that sometime too. It looks like in the pic, that you are drawing the bow with 4 fingers...do you always do that?
-
What's to criticize?...this is a very fine bow and practical! Bookmarked, too, for May Self Bow of the Month.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I got the sleeve from 3 Rivers and I also had it and the billets for quite a while trying to figure the best way to pull it off. I just ended up joining the billets together and treating it like any other stave. The billets were plenty long so I figured if I messed up; I’d just cut it off and start over. Just get everything square and flat and round the corners to fit the sleeves. The convince of a takedown is always great but what surprised me was the added weight in the riser made the bow so much more stable and dead in the hand than any of the other self bows I have shot. Oh and I don’t normally shoot with 4 fingers, I was just trying to get a good full draw pic and that was about the 10th try.

Very sweet bow Dan and thanks for sharing eh :)

The only critique I can come up with is in the form of praise! Great job on your bow! ;)

Only thing I see wrong is that you need a few knots in those limbs! ;D Really nice looking bow.Congrats on a fine job.

Clean billets, great bow.
Constructive criticism, as mild as it is, tie a nock point on the string and use an arrow, and anchor asif you were shooting when you show full draw. You can actually pull a bow out of tiller, or so I've heard, by not being careful on how it's drawn.
I know I've handed a bow to the ill informed and got it back a minute later w/ an extra 1/2" of string follow. Don't do that much anymore.
Nice job. I love sleeved bows for the weight. But sleeves have a tendancy to be either loose in the dry or tight in wet weather, but we have extremes of humidity change here prehaps unlike others.

I really like the bow. After looking at yours I've decided I'll have to make one of those for myself.
-
Really inspirational, I'm going to order me some take down sleeves. Thanks for posting :)

My only critque is that I haven't done that, yet. You should be proud of your work.
