Nope, don't have one. Looks cool, though.

I did that on a hickory stave and it does work.
-
I've used a pipe wrench a time or two.
-
I use gravity and leverage quite often when making bows. Different tools but the same idea.
-
i have one looks just like it
-
i cant say i have ever done that, prop twist doesnt bother me unless its severe
-
So are you letting time and gravity bend it back in place or heating it up?
-
I think that is one of the most common bow building tools around. ;) Mine is a pipe wrench like Steve's though.
-
Mine is self propelled, fueled with two bags of lead shot and as many large C clamps as I need in the bucket to make it work.

That little tool and a heat gun can work wonders on "propeller syndrome". 8) 8)
-
prop twist does not brother me either, but these bows I am doing have a 90degree twist, on both limbs and in different directions, that would be 180 out of line, now it is perfect, I hate to waste wood,I never get to use straight wood, >:(
-
Yep, every bowyer should have a tool just like that - unless you steam it and it dents the wood severly ::). That primitive pipe wrench appears to be just the ticket.
-
I use to do that a lot ,but now I just do it on the form with tappered shims, where I can pull in more to one side or the other. :) Take the twist and line up the tips and handle all at the same time. :)

Been there, done that...but used leather between the jaw's. I like the "self-propelled" version... ;)
-
I also use shims in my forms, but I have found with 90 degree twist they are hard to get in a form,, I also have a form that is cut on a angle to twist limb in the opposite direction, I will post photo later
-
here is a photo of a de propellar bow form, each limb is angled different so I can take prop out either way with a flat spot at the riser, either way I like to start with the pipe wrench, then do the final work on the form

now thats cool,I guess if I done as many as you I would make one of them. :)

Are you guys using heat also or just time and gravity?
-
Yep ,I've got one.But instead of the crescent wrench,I use a Jorgensen wood clamp. God Bless
-
heat gravity takes to long ;D

I always wondered if someone can take a green wet stave, rough it out, and put in a form to make it warp the way they want. Like in this case.
-
you can take a green stave, rough out seal with shellac, clamp in form, even heat, heating a green stave is like steaming because the water is already in the wood, were just heating it up, ,you have just got to be cautious if you get it to hot it will crack, , the stave would need to be in the form for a month or two, to hold its shape, but if you are going to dry a stave why not dry it in the shape you want ;D
